This candle is based on the artwork of Julie Lonneman. The image introduces the Lent and the Three Days section of the ELCA's new worship resource, Evangelical Lutheran Worship.

It features a prominent cross and new life springing forth from a seed. In the background, light and water nourish the new birth. We are reminded that even in the midst of death (even death on a cross) new life is born. The image depicts the connectedness between death on the cross and new life.
